Single digit inflation in India against double digit in developed countries: Goyal

Surat: Union Minister of Textiles and Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said while addressing an interactive session with the members and textile stakeholders held by Synthetic Rayon & Textile Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) that the inflation is in single digit only in India, whereas it is in double-digit in the developed countries of the world.

He said that some ignorant people not having an understanding of the economy spread misleading talks about inflation. The inflation is in the single digit only in India and the inflation rate has reduced to 4.5 percent in the last 8 years, he said. The countries of the world are prompt to make foreign trade agreements and economic trade agreements with India due to PM Modi’s policies, he said. The goods export was 420 billion dollars and services export was 254 billion dollars last year, he said. It is estimated to be 750 billion dollars this year, he said. The central government received applications for 16 PM Mitra parks from 13 states. Surat is also a strong candidate in Gujarat among them.

SRTEPC chairman Dhirubhai Shah said that there is an export of 44 billion dollars in the volume of 150 crores of Indian textiles. There is a significant contribution of Surat in increasing the export. Surat has a contribution of 7 billion dollars in it, he said.
