Bhavnagar-Talaja-Mahuva road to be ready by June: Govt

New Delhi: The Bhavnagar-Talaja-Mahuva road project is being made in two parts and is anticipated to be completed by June 30, 2023, the Union Ministery of Road and Transport informed the Parliament.
In a response to Congress MP Shaktisinh Gohil, the ministry said “The Bhavnagar-Talaja-Mahuva (Gujarat) road project is being implemented under two packages i.e. Bhavnagar-Talaja (Package-1) and Talaja-Mahuva (Package-2).
The work of Bhavnagar-Talaja (Package-1) commenced on 07.02.2017 and the anticipated date of completion is 31.03.2023.
The work of Talaja-Mahuva (Package-2) commenced on 25.04.2017. However, the contract was terminated on 17.02.2021 due to the default of the Concessionaire. Now after the new contract has been awarded the anticipated date of completion is 30.06.2023.
The Ministry also mentioned the reason for the delay in the project, such as issues in land acquisition, Tautae Cylcone in May-2021, long monsoon durations and Termination and re-award of work on Package 2. DeshGujarat
