Modasa: Arvalli Police has arrested two accused who had attached GPS trackers to raiding vehicles of the Mines and Minerals department in order to get their real-time locations. The details of the locations were shared in a now-deleted Whatsapp group involving mining mafias.
The accused had fitted two GPS trackers for real-time location tracking of vehicles of the Mining department. The accused are identified as Prabhudas Dodiyar from Pahadiya village and Upendra Menat from Khiloda village. Prabhudas Dodiyar owns a truck to carry minerals. He is a dismissed policeman. Accused Prabhudas was previously held in liquor transport cases in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Arvalli. He was facing five cases. He was dismissed from Police in 2018.
The second GPS tracker was attached by Modasa-based Nimesh Gor. He is on run. Police suspect that the locations obtained through GPS trackers were shared with mining mafias via Whatsapp group which is now deleted.
According to district police chief Sanjay Kharat, the accused will face action under PASA. A complaint, in this case, was filed at Modasa Town Police Station. DeshGujarat
