Heavy rain forecast for Amreli, Gir Somnath, Navsari, and Valsad from July 7-9

Gandhinagar: A Weather Watch Group meeting was held today at the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) in Gandhinagar, chaired by Relief Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey. During the meeting, the relief commissioner reviewed the monsoon situation in the state and assessed the preparedness of all departments, providing necessary guidance and suggestions.
In the meeting, an official from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) shared information about the rainfall situation, stating that there is a possibility of rain throughout Gujarat during the current week. Heavy rain is expected in the districts of Amreli, Gir Somnath, Navsari, and Valsad from July 7th to July 9th.
Officials from the Irrigation Department reported that out of the 206 reservoirs in the state, 23 reservoirs are on high alert, 15 are on alert, and 10 are on warning. The meeting also included an update on the Sardar Sarovar Dam situation from an official of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd.
NDRF and SDRF officials shared that a deployment plan has been prepared to address the monsoon rain situation, with all teams on high alert.
Representatives from various departments including GSDMA, CWC, Agriculture, Health, Forest, Baiseg, GMB, Panchayat, Coast Guard, ISRO, Energy, Fisheries, Roads and Buildings, GSRTC, Air Force, Fire, UDD, Animal Husbandry, Nodal Officers of ICDS, and Information Department were present at the meeting.
