Banaskantha: A protest march to Gandhinagar was called off after Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met with the leaders of protesting locals from North Gujarat and promised action in a case linked to BJP MLA from Deodhar seat, Keshaji Thakur.

The procession of protesters from Banaskantha was halted by the police near Gozaria in Mehsana, and the protest leaders were escorted to Gandhinagar for a meeting with the Chief Minister. After the meeting, the protesters cancelled their rally as they were assured of action against the MLA. These protesters had been marching towards the state capital for a week.

Originally, the agitators had planned a protest rally in Gandhinagar on August 18 against an incident involving the BJP MLA’s aide during an event in Banaskantha on August 7. However, they have now decided not to proceed with this planned rally.

This government intervention occurred just as Gandhinagar was preparing to host a three-day G20 health track event commencing on August 17.
