Two migrants with criminal history held for gang rape of Minor in rural Surat

Surat: The Surat police on Wednesday arrested two migrant individuals with criminal histories for gang raping a 17-year-old girl on Tuesday in Mota Borsara village in Mangrol taluka, while the manhunt for the third suspect of the crime is ongoing.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night when the girl and her friend were stranded on a deserted road due to low fuel in their bike. Three men suddenly approached them, after which the girl and her friend tried to flee the area before being overpowered by the accused. The boy managed to escape and call for help, after which the local village launched a search for the girl and found her. However, the accused had fled the location.

Police authorities traced the abandoned bike found at the crime scene to its owner, which led them to the suspects’ rented house. The Crime Branch also joined the investigation, and after a brief chase, police apprehended two of the suspects, Munna Paswan (40) originally from Siwan district in Bihar and residing in Kim, and Shivshanker, alias Dayashanker Chorasiya (45), a native of Guner district in Madhya Pradesh, currently living near Hariyal Saheli Industries, while the third suspect escaped.

Both arrested suspects have criminal histories and have been involved in crimes in Vadodara, Bharuch, and Surat. They had been residing in a rented property in Karanj for the past few months. Chorasiya had been charged earlier this year under the Arms Act, as well as for murder in 2017 and theft in 2023. Paswan has been implicated in at least seven theft cases. Police are gathering more information from them.

Meanwhile, a special investigation team has been formed to investigate the gang rape case. DeshGujarat
