Rising marriage applications prompt notice outside Nari Sanrakshan Gruh in Surat

Surat: In response to the escalating number of marriage applications for girls at the Nari Sanrakshan Gruh in the Ghod Dod area of the city, a notice has been prominently displayed outside the facility. The notice reads, “As there is no female available for marriage in the Nari Sanrakshan Gruh, no marriage inquiries shall be made.”

With a backlog of thousands of pending marriage applications, a notice has been posted outside the facility. Nari Sanrakshan Gruh is government run facility where orphan and destitute females are sheltered. Such gruhs function under the Social Defense department of the State government.

Men from diverse backgrounds, including post-graduates and businessmen, have expressed their interest in marriage by applying at Nari Sanrakshan Gruh. Most of the proposals come from age groups ranging from 20 to 25, originating from different backgrounds and states even other than Gujarat. Remarkably, even individuals as old as 60 are among the applicants.

The surge in marriage applications for girls at Sanrakshan Gruh in Surat underscores the scarcity of women in society. Despite an abundance of men seeking marriage partners, there is a shortage of available brides. In 2019, two women were married through the Nari Sangrakshan Gruh. DeshGujarat
