Vadodara: Former city Congress chief of Vadodara Prashant Patel has left the Congress party. He has sent his resignation letter to State party chief Shaktisinh Gohil. He is set to join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi.
Patel said he would join the BJP with the large number of party workers. Former city Congress chief Suresh Patel and another city party bigwig Bhavesh Patel are also likely to join the BJP along with Prashant Patel.
Prashant Patel who also contested the Lok Sabha election for the Congress party told media persons that India was ruled by Mughals, Britishers, and Congress, but now the time has come it is also ruled by Hindutva. Patel said Hindutva doesn’t mean any danger to others. All will prosper and become happy in the Hindutva rule. Patel said some Congress and alliance leaders openly speak against Sanatan Hindu dharma. This bashing is unacceptable. Patel further said, that when India’s history is told in the future, Hindutva rule under PM Modi will be remembered.
Patel said he has no complaints regarding personal treatment by the Congress party. He said all his complaints are regarding the ideological stand Congress has taken. Local political observers believe that Patels are resigning as they are upset ever since the appointment of Rutvik Joshi as city party chief.
Recently Gujarat Congress’s new in-charge Mukul Wasnki paid a visit to Vadodara along with the State party chief Shaktisinh Gohil. This was Wasnik’s first organizational tour after becoming in charge. Wasnik and Gohil had reportedly tried to prevent the defection of Patels but the attempts appear to have failed – local political observers believe.
