Bhoomi Pujan of Micron’s Sanand Semiconductor Plant on Sept 23: Minister

Sanand: The US-based semiconductor giant, Micron Technology Inc., is scheduled to perform a ‘Bhoomi Pujan’ ceremony for its Rs 22,500 crore unit in Sanand on September 23. This comes after three months of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government.

During a Vibrant Gujarat event in Gandhinagar on Wednesday, State Industries Minister Balwantsinh Rajput shared the news, stating, ‘I am pleased to inform you that Micron Technologies will perform the Bhoomi Pujan on September 23.’

The company’s Assembly, Test, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP) facility is being established on 93 acres within the Sanand GIDC-II industrial estate and is expected to be operational within 18 months. This facility will primarily focus on converting wafers into Ball Grid Array (BGA) integrated circuit packages, memory modules, and solid-state drives.

In addition to the 98 acres allocated to Micron Technologies, the company has acquired an existing unit in Sanand GIDC, which will serve as a ‘mini project site’ for initial operations. An official mentioned that this mini-project site encompasses approximately one lakh square feet of built-up area and is situated approximately six kilometers away from their primary project site on the allocated 98 acres. Micron has commenced the setup of plant and machinery at this mini-project site and plans to retrofit the existing plant for initial operations. DeshGujarat
