December 01, 2023
Union Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy, R. K. Singh, and Kanubhai Desai, Minister of Finance, Energy, and Petrochemicals, Gujarat, today inaugurated a seminar titled ‘Energy Transition in India: Road Travelled and Opportunities Ahead” here in the state capital.
The two-day event is a precursor to the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024.
In his address, Shri Singh said, “Our economy is growing at 7.6% and will continue to grow at that pace at least for the next 2 decades. This will double our energy requirements every 6-7 years.”
“While there will be no compromise on growth, we are increasing the share of non-fossil fuels in our energy mix. By 2030, 65% of our energy capacity will come from non-fossil sources. We are building MFG capacity for storage to make round-the-clock RE accessible and affordable,” he added.
Talking about Gujarat, the Union Minister said, “Gujarat is taking the lead in our energy transition efforts. The state is blessed with land, wind, sun, and a wide coastline. Each of these resources offers huge potential for renewable energy facilities, and the state government is leaving no stone unturned. If you want to set up an industry, you will receive the clearances faster than anywhere else.”
MNRE Secretary Shri Bhupinder Singh Bhalla and Gujarat state officials were also present during the session. DeshGujarat
