Kankaria East Metro Station likely to be operational by Feb next year

Kankaria: The Kankaria East underground metro station, part of the east-west corridor of Ahmedabad metro linking Thaltej and Vastral, is expected to become operational by February of the coming year.

The commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) conducted an inspection of the station on Wednesday. According to sources within the metro project, the inspection report will be submitted shortly, and based on its findings, approval for the Kankaria East station in the Ahmedabad metro project is anticipated.

The Kankaria East station is expected to serve passengers heading to Kankaria Lake and is projected to experience significant foot traffic on Sundays and holidays.

Officials mentioned that this station and Thaltej Gam and Sabarmati stations are currently under construction and not yet operational. The Sabarmati station, facilitating connections to the bullet train and Ramnagar railway station for trains bound for North India, is also nearing completion. Once the finishing touches are completed, CMRS will conduct another inspection, as per officials.

Meanwhile, Thaltej Gam station’s construction might take more time, and it could potentially become operational concurrently with the second phase of the metro, connecting to Gandhinagar. DeshGujarat
