West Bengal held at Surat Airport for smoking on flight

Surat: Dumas Police arrested a 23-year-old man from West Bengal on Wednesday night for smoking a cigarette in the lavatory of an Air India Express flight from Delhi to Surat.
The accused, Kaustav Satyajit Bishwas, works for a private company in Bengaluru and was supposed to catch a connecting flight from Surat to Bengaluru. It is learned that during the flight, a passenger informed the crew about someone being in the lavatory. When asked to exit, Bishwas emerged from the lavatory, which was filled with smoke, and admitted to smoking. Upon landing at Surat International Airport around 9:45 pm, the pilot alerted the airport staff, who escorted the passenger to the terminal and notified local authorities.
Based on a complaint filed by Air India Express security supervisor Shyam Kansara, Bishwas was booked under IPC 336 and section 10 of The Aircraft Act, 1934. Police also confiscated a matchbox from Bishwas, which is prohibited on flights. – DeshGujarat
