Gujarat Congress General Secretary Ashok Dangar quits party; rejoins BJP

Rajkot: General Secretaries of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee and former Rajkot Mayor Ashok Dangar today rejoined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party after resigning from the Congress party.
Dangar served as the mayor of Rajkot from 2000 to 2003 during the Congress rule of the civic body. He had previously joined the BJP in 2012 after leaving the Congress and then later in 2018, he quit the BJP and rejoined the Congress party.
Dangar has switched sides for the fourth time today, rejoining the BJP. Alongside him, former Deputy Mayor of Rajkot Bharat Makwana has also left the Congress and joined the BJP.
On quitting the Congress party, Dangar said, “Congress does not expel those who make controversial statements.” Talking about former Congress MLA Indranil Rajyaguru, Dangar said, “It does not matter what Indranilbhai may say after seven o’clock in the evening. There is certainly factionalism in the Congress, and the Congress is on the verge of breaking up every day now. I will completely uproot the Congress from Rajkot. I can never compromise with principles, so I am leaving the Congress Party,” he added. DeshGujarat
