Gujarat ATS arrests Pakistani spy in Porbandar

Porbandar: The Gujarat Anti-Terror Squad today arrested an individual from Porbandar suspected of being a spy for Pakistan. The accused allegedly engaged in espionage by transmitting information to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI. The police have arrested him and initiated further investigation. The accused was produced before a court which sent him to 5 days fo police remand.
On the arrest of an accused Gujarat ATS DySP SL Chaudhary says, “Police Inspector Piyush Desai received information that a fisherman from Porbandar, named Jatin Charaniya, was sending information to a social media account operated from Pakistan, ‘Advika Prince’. A team monitored his social media and finances and collected evidence. A case was registered at the ATS Police Station under IPC sections 121 and 120. He took Rs. 6,000 through various mediums.”
“He was using Instagram and WhatsApp to be in touch with an account of a Pakistan Intelligence operative named ‘Advika Prince,” the police officer added.

According to the initial information, the accused fell victim to a honey trap and came in contact with a Pakistani agent who claimed to be a woman named Advika Prince for the past four months. The accused used to send information about fishing boats and Indian Coast Guard Ships through chat applications like Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and Telegram to the agent of the enemy country, Pakistan, and received money in return. It was also found that several chats between Advika Prince and Jatin Charania on Facebook Messenger and Telegram were auto-deleted within 24 hours due to privacy settings. Jatin also sent videos and details of Indian Coast Guard ships via Facebook Messenger and received a total of Rs. 6000. The WhatsApp account with which Jatin was chatting was operating from Pakistan.
