Cambodia job scam; One arrested in Vadodara

Vadodara: The Vadodara city crime branch has arrested one Manish Hingu for a job scam. The scam is related to a hostage situation and atrocities on Indian citizens in Cambodia.
Accused Manish Balwantrai Hingu (30) is a resident of the Gotri area of the city. He is accused of human trafficking and cheating in connection with the incident in which an Indian youth was held hostage for 34 days for 2000 USD.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team raided the Vishwamohini Complex-based UES job consultancy office in the Subhanpura area of Vadodara and nabbed Manish Hingu in connection with a Cambodia-based job scam in which a number of Indian citizens are duped. Manish Hingu, MD of Unique Employment Service, Krishna Pathak, and Vietnam-based agent Vikki are accused in this case.
Victim youth was lured to Cambodia for job and his passport was taken away from him. He was then recruited in unnamed company. The company would lure Indian citizens in friendship scam, cheating and transfer of money from people’s bank accounts. As the victim youth was not interested in such illegal activities, he requested to leave the job. However a Chinese man heading the operations of this unnamed company demanded 2820 USD from the victim. Chinese man also threatened to sell the victim youth for 2,000 USD to other company. The victim youth was asked to manage 2000 USD from India and pay it. Victim youth was not given food for three days. He was kept as hostage for 34 days. DeshGujarat.
