A new parallel taxi track starts functioning at Surat Airport
June 07, 2024
Surat: Over a month after permission was received from the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Phase 1 of the Parallel Taxi Track (PTT) has commenced at Surat International Airport from Thursday. Presently, this PTT, located towards the Vesu direction, is being utilized on a trial basis.
Due to the lack of a parallel track, Surat Airport was witnessing a scenario in which only one flight could land at a time, while the other flight would wait for landing, resulting in extended time spent in the air. With the commencement of operations at PTT Phase 1 from last Thursday, this problem is expected to find a solution.
Phase 2 of the other parallel track is being developed towards the Dumas direction. The commencement of that track would further ease parallel landings in the future. DeshGujarat
