AMC sets up zone-wise monsoon control rooms; complaints can be sent on WhatsApp
June 08, 2024
Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has set up Monsoon control rooms in seven zones of the city. These control rooms, along with one main control room, have been set up to address issues such as falling trees, road subsidence, house collapses, building collapses, hoarding collapses, and waterlogging in low-lying areas during heavy rains or strong winds and stormy conditions in the monsoon. Monsoon Control Rooms have been activated in all three shifts across seven zones of the Municipal Corporation to address complaints related to the Engineering, Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), Garden, and Estate Departments.
The civic body has designated several telephone numbers as well as WhatsApp numbers for these control rooms. The main monsoon control room has been set up at Paldi Sanskar Kendra. Here is a list of contact numbers for reporting complaints or issues related to your area, which will be promptly resolved by the Municipal Corporation. Citizens can also complain about their problems via WhatsApp on the relevant number.
To ensure swift resolution of monsoon-related issues, citizens can register complaints through WhatsApp at the control rooms established in seven zones, including the main monsoon control room. A separate WhatsApp number has been designated for each zone, allowing people to report instances of waterlogging, fallen trees, collapsed hoardings, etc. Rainfall information and statistics are collected every two hours from the control rooms of different zones through the Monsoon Control Room. Additionally, data on the water levels of Vasna Barrage and Dharoi Dam will be obtained.
The main control room is digitally connected to control rooms in different zones through a wireless system and the internet. Furthermore, 26 advanced automatic rain gauges have been installed. The Monsoon Control Room operations will be monitored 24 hours a day to address as many grievances as possible. At the zonal level, the Engineering Department, Estate Department, Health Department, Garden Department officials, and labor-level staff will be on standby with essential supplies, manpower, and various machinery required to handle emergency situations during the monsoon, under the direct supervision and instructions of the Municipal Commissioner.
