Ambaji Mandir’s investment in Gold Monetization Scheme soars to 175 kg

Banaskantha: Ambaji Mandir’s administrator, K.S. Modi, has recently revealed that the temple has received a donation of 175 kg of gold so far, amounting to approximately Rs 125 crore. This gold, contributed by devotees from across the country, has been securely deposited in the Gold Monetization Scheme (GMS) at the Bank of Baroda.

A total of 175 kg of gold, valued at approximately Rs 125 crore, has been contributed by devotees nationwide towards gilding the renowned pilgrimage, Ambaji Mandir. The gold, received in various forms, is melted into biscuits and securely deposited in the Bank of Baroda as a part of GMS.

Under this scheme, the temple receives fixed deposits (FD) based on the prevailing gold prices. These FDs mature over terms of 3, 5, and 7 years, providing the temple with financial flexibility when needed. Additionally, the temple trust earns interest on the deposited gold. This amount is utilized for the welfare of devotees visiting Ambaji Temple, while the gold remains safely stored in the bank. Moreover, artists are currently engaged in gilding the temple as part of the ongoing efforts to transform Ambaji Mandir into a golden abode. DeshGujarat
