Surat: Three individuals were nabbed at the city airport on Friday night for carrying US dollars. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized USD 1.48 lakh from them during a check while they were trying to fly to Dubai.
During the check of the Surat-Dubai flight, USD 1.48 lakh was found hidden in the pant pockets and underwear of three youths aged between 30 and 35 years. The detained individuals were released later on a personal bond. All of them admitted that they were taking this money to Dubai for business investment. However, the agencies suspect that the USD 1.48 lakh, which is approximately Rs 1.5 crore, was being taken to Dubai for hawala transactions or gold purchases. DeshGujarat
