Tata AIG Insurance Co delists 81 hospitals of Ahmedabad
June 24, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Hospitals and Nursing Homes Association (AHNA) issued a legal notice to Tata AIG General Insurance Co on Sunday, accusing the insurer of arbitrarily delisting 81 hospitals in the city and publishing their names on their website without providing valid reasons or an opportunity for the hospitals to defend themselves.
In response, the association, which has around 1,000 member hospitals, announced a boycott of Tata AIG General Insurance Co. Due to this, cashless or reimbursement facilities will be unavailable to any Tata AIG policyholders from July 15 if the insurer does not revoke the delisting.
“When AHNA and hospital representatives tried to contact insurance company officials, they received irresponsible responses. A letter sent by AHNA did not get any reply from Tata AIG Insurance, which led to the decision to send a legal notice. The list published by Tata AIG has also been adopted by other private insurance companies, who have similarly excluded these 81 hospitals,” said AHNA president Dr. Bharat Gadhavi.
AHNA vice-president Dr. Viren Shah called the insurer’s actions “against the principle of natural justice.” DeshGujarat
