Rajkot: Rajkot City President of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mukesh Doshi, has written a letter addressing all the elected BJP corporators of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation to document all correspondence regarding public work on paper.
In a letter addressing the elected representatives, the BJP city chief said, “You all are elected representatives of the BJP. I request all the corporators to write a letter to the zonal engineer, deputy municipal commissioner, or municipal commissioner regarding the work of the public. This way, the Rajkot Municipal Corporation will have a record of the correspondence with the elected representatives.”
The letter also asks the corporators to keep a copy of the correspondence for future records.
Reacting to the letter, Jaymin Thakar, Chairman of the Standing Committee of RMC, said that this letter will help speed up the development work. “The elected representatives should have a record and database so that they can be used in the future. Also, the officer will take it seriously that an official letter has been received, which will help in speeding up the work.”
The corporator of ward no. 16, Narendra Dav, said that this is a good decision as it will keep a record and the administration will pay attention due to the letter. However, he also stated that petty works like drainage and cleanliness should not require written correspondence.
Nehal Shukla, Corporator of Ward No. 7, said, “Due to this written correspondence, accountability will be fixed. The city BJP chief must have written the letter after careful consideration. I think if this letter had come earlier, it would have been better, as written correspondence will fix the accountability of the corporation officer, and the corporation officer will also remember what has been asked for and why.” DeshGujarat
