Term of Governor of Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh to end this month
July 01, 2024
Gandhinagar: Five years terms of Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh Governors will complete later this month. The term of Anandiben Patel(82), the Governor of Uttar Pradesh will end on 29 July.
She is on this post since 29 July 2019.
Patel hails from Gujarat where she was Chief Minister for around two years period. Conventionally, Uttar Pradesh sees change of Governor every five years. Though PM Modi’s algorithm is at times difficult to understand, it should be noted that Vajubhai Vala from Gujarat was made Governor of Karnataka for only single term. Both Vala and Anandiben were senior politicians in Gujarat and it is believed they were sent outside the State to allow their juniors to lead and run the show in Gujarat smoothly.
Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat(65)’s term is ending on 22 July. He is on this post since 22 July 2019. In the first half of September this year(in next two months around) terms of two more Governors will end. They are Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra and Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan. Terms of both of them shall end in the second week of September. DeshGujarat
