Last member of Ahmedabad FRC removed from post
July 12, 2024
Ahmedabad: Following numerous complaints of irregularities, the state education department on Thursday immediately removed Bharat Patel, a member of the Ahmedabad Zone Fee Regulatory Committee (FRC) and a chartered accountant. Patel’s tenure was originally set to end in 2025, and he was the last remaining member of the committee, whose chairman’s term also ended in June.
The absence of the chairman and members will likely halt the process of determining school fees in the districts under the Ahmedabad Zone FRC. According to the education department’s resolution, in 2017, the state government established fee regulation committees in four zones: Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara, and Surat.
Patel was appointed as a member for the Ahmedabad Zone FRC on May 20, 2022, for a three-year term, based on the resolution dated July 11. However, due to complaints against him, the department issued a resolution terminating his appointment, resulting in his removal after only two years. DeshGujarat
