Gujarat govt makes changes to transfer process of PSIs and PIs
August 02, 2024
Gandhinagar: In a move to enhance transparency in the transfer process of Police Sub Inspectors (PSIs) and Police Inspectors (PIs), the Gujarat Home Department has announced new regulations that will provide all officers with the opportunity to serve in various areas of the state.
In a recent meeting involving the Chief Minister, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, the Director General of Police, and the Chief Police Officer, it was decided that PSIs and PIs who have been stationed in the same zone for five consecutive years will no longer be transferred to districts within that zone or to adjacent districts.
Furthermore, the decision stipulates that the appointment of branches will also be considered in addition to the units when calculating the five-year period for transfers. This approach aims to provide a clearer framework for evaluating an officer’s tenure and to promote fairness in the transfer process.
