Mumbai-Ahmedabad Vande Bharat Express train collides with two stray cows
August 22, 2024
Valsad: Yet another collision between the Vande Bharat Express train and stray animals has come to light. On Wednesday evening, while traveling from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, the Vande Bharat Express collided with two cows near Udwada railway station, located between Vapi and Valsad.
The collision resulted in the deaths of both cows and prompted a temporary halt of the semi-high-speed train for safety checks. Local railway officials responded promptly, conducting a thorough inspection of the train before it was allowed to continue its journey. Fortunately, no passengers were injured, and the train resumed its journey after a brief delay.
Incidents of collisions between the Vande Bharat train and animals have been reported earlier. However, in 2023, cross-metal barriers were installed along the Ahmedabad-Mumbai route to prevent such accidents. Despite the barriers significantly reducing such incidents, stray cattle somehow found their way onto the tracks on Wednesday evening, leading to this collision. DeshGujarat
