BJP fields Swaroopji Thakor as candidate for Vav by-election
October 25, 2024
Banaskantha: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced Swaroopji Thakor as its candidate for the by-election of the Vav Assembly seat. The announcement comes on the last day for filing nominations for the by-poll. Swaroopji Thakor will contest against Congress candidate Gulab Singh Rajput, whose name was also declared earlier today.
Thakor filed his candidature as the BJP candidate at the Suigam Prant office and expressed gratitude to senior BJP leaders and the party organization for this opportunity.
The Vav assembly seat has been vacant since June, prompting this by-poll after Geniben Thakor resigned from the State Assembly upon her election to the Lok Sabha from Banaskantha parliamentary constituency. Polling in Vav is scheduled for November 13, and the results will be announced on November 23.
It is noteworthy that in the 2022 assembly polls, Swaroopji Thakor contested from this seat on a BJP ticket but lost to Geniben Thakor of the Congress. DeshGujarat
