Kankariya Zoo gets 2 tigresses and 6 leopards
October 25, 2024
Ahmedabad: Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today announced that ahead of Diwali, Kankaria Zoo has received 2 new tigresses and 6 new leopards, and visitors will have the opportunity to see them starting today.
These 2 female tigers and 3 pairs of leopards (totaling 6) were transported to Kankaria Zoo from Gorewada Zoo in Nagpur on September 26th as part of an animal exchange program. Following this, as per the policy of the Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi, these animals were required to undergo a one-month quarantine and had been kept away from visitors in a special quarantine area. This process helps the newly arrived animals acclimate to the environment of Kankaria Zoo and ensures their health.
This morning, around 10 a.m., Mayor Pratibha Jain and other senior AMC officials officially opened these animals for public viewing, allowing visitors to see the new arrivals. DeshGujarat
