PM Modi virtually inaugurates Medical Devices manufacturing plant of Meril in Gujarat

Valsad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Dhanteras day, virtually inaugurated a new manufacturing plant for medical devices at Meril Park in Vapi. The plant will primarily focus on MedTech areas, including surgical robotics, heart valves, stents, and cancer treatments.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited the Meril studio on this occasion, which specializes in sophisticated and advanced medical devices. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Meril Data Centre, which utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) and extensive health data to aid in the development of new drugs.

Meril is owned by Anjumbhai Bhakhiya and led by Vivekbhai Shah. Established in 2007, Meril is a leading MedTech company based in Vapi. The company operates mainly in five areas: Cardiovascular, Orthopaedics, Endo Surgery, Surgical Robotics, and Diagnostics. It employs over 10,000 people and has a presence in 150 countries, with subsidiary offices in 31 countries. Meril Academy, dedicated to training in medical technology, has a presence in 12 countries.

At the 2024 Vibrant Gujarat summit, Meril signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Gujarat government for investments worth Rs. 910 crore. Meril has invested Rs. 1,400 crore so far, and with this new investment, the company is expected to generate 5,000 more employment opportunities.
