Ahmedabad: Just days after claiming the life of a youth in Surat, the banned Chinese kite thread (manja) has taken another life in the state, this time in Ahmedabad. Himanshu Rana, a courier delivery man, succumbed to injuries caused by Chinese kite thread in the Ghodasar area on Saturday. Initially, locals who found Rana lying in a pool of blood near Ghodasar Circle suspected foul play, prompting Vatva Police to launch an investigation.
Police inspector K. A. Gadhvi of Vatva police station confirmed that Chinese thread was found on Rana’s motorcycle. CCTV footage showed Rana riding normally through Ghodasar Circle at around 5:53 pm, but in subsequent footage three minutes later, he appeared injured, clutching his neck.
Rana, a resident of Narol and a native of Khambhat in Kheda district, fell victim to the banned Chinese thread, which remains illicitly available in the market despite strict prohibitions. DeshGujarat
