Bharuch: An explosion occurred at Detox India Pvt. Ltd. in the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) area in Ankleshwar on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of four workers.
According to preliminary reports, the blast was caused by a ruptured steam pressure pipe at the company’s M.E. plant, sending shockwaves throughout the area. Workers were reportedly installing railings on the feed tank when the blast occurred during welding operations. It is learned that among the four workers who lost their lives, three were from Uttar Pradesh, while one was from Bihar.
Firefighters and a team from the Safety and Health Department immediately responded to the scene, with a police convoy also arriving to assist.
Ankleshwar SDM B.A. Jadeja said, “A blast occurred around 1 pm at Detox India Pvt. Ltd. in Ankleshwar, resulting in the death of four people. Forensic post-mortem processing is currently being carried out.”
Superintendent of Police Mayur Chavda stated, “The explosion resulted in the death of four workers. No other individuals were injured, and there is no fire at the scene.”
Bharuch BJP MP Mansukh Vasava expressed his sorrow over the incident and held officials from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) accountable for the accident. He has instructed the collector to take legal action against the company, which has faced prior allegations of negligence.
Detox India’s General Manager, Dharmendra Chautala, stated that “the company’s contractor, Panchmurti Fabricator, was given permission to install hand railings on a 75 KL feed tank. While the work was in progress, around 12:40 pm, there was a loud noise. Upon rushing to the site, we found that the roof of the tank, referred to as the tank’s descent, had been thrown 15-20 meters away. The bodies of two workers were also found there. Upon further investigation, one man was found behind the tank, while the other was found outside the boundary. The initial investigation will focus on how the tank’s roof flew off. Only after this will we know the cause of the incident. The company management will provide as much assistance as possible to the families of the deceased.”DeshGujarat
