DGVCL ranks top among public sector discoms; all 4 Gujarat discoms in top 10

Surat: Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) has ranked first among public sector power distribution companies (discoms) in India and secured the second position overall among both public and private sector entities for 2023-24. The company received an A+ grade with a 97.5 score in the 13th Annual Integrated Rating and Ranking: Power Distribution Utilities, released by the Union power ministry.
All four of Gujarat’s public sector discoms—DGVCL, Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited (MGVCL), Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited (UGVCL), and Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL)—earned A+ grades and placed among the top ten power distributors nationwide.
The annual assessment by the Union power ministry evaluated 52 power distribution companies, including 42 public sector and 10 private sector entities, based on criteria such as operational efficiency, financial performance, reforms implementation, execution excellence, distribution losses, billing and collection efficiency, and corporate governance.
