Passenger arrested at Surat airport for smoking bidi on IndiGo flight

Surat: Dumas police have arrested an individual for smoking a bidi inside the bathroom of a flight bound for Kolkata from Surat Airport. As the smoke spread inside the cabin, passengers panicked, prompting the airline staff to intervene. The man was caught and handed over to the police.
The accused, identified as Dr. Ashok Anukul Biswas, a native of West Bengal and a resident of Navsari, was arrested for smoking on board a Surat-Kolkata IndiGo flight. The flight had around 70 passengers, whose safety was compromised due to the incident.
It is noteworthy that smoking on a flight is a punishable offense under the Indian Aircraft Act, 1937, which can result in removal from the flight, imprisonment, or even placement on the no-fly list for three months to two years. DeshGujarat
