Ahmedabad records 42.3°C maximum temperature, heatwave alert for North Gujarat and Kutch

Ahmedabad: For the second day of the week, the city recorded temperatures above 42°C on Tuesday, with the mercury touching 42.3°C — 2.9°C higher than the seasonal average. The minimum temperature also remained elevated at 26.4°C, exceeding the normal by 2.6°C.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that Wednesday’s maximum temperature will hover around 42°C. The forecast indicates a rise in maximum temperatures by 2-3°C over the next three days, followed by a dip of similar magnitude.
On Tuesday, Kandla Airport was Gujarat’s hottest spot at 44.6°C, followed by Rajkot at 42.8°C, Surendranagar at 42.5°C, Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar at 42.3°C, and Amreli at 42°C.
Vadodara and Surat, meanwhile, were relatively cooler at 39.8°C and 37.0°C, respectively. Meanwhile, heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of the North Gujarat region, namely Banaskantha, and in the Saurashtra-Kutch region, namely Kutch, during the next 48 hours.
