June 05, 2025
Gandhinagar: A theft incident involving lift equipment has come to light at the GNLU metro station located in Koba village. On May 31, at around 6:30 AM, equipment valued at Rs. 3.81 lakh belonging to Omega Lift Company was discovered missing.
According to a complaint filed by security guard Ravindrasinh Bihola, the equipment was stored in wooden boxes placed at three separate locations beneath the metro station track. Thieves broke open these boxes and stole the items inside. The stolen equipment included 480 non-standard gaskets, 456 anchor bolts, and 912 hex nuts. Additionally, 912 heavy-type spring washers, 456 civil gaskets, and 500 trimming gaskets were also stolen.
The security guard promptly informed supervisor Kailashbhai, who in turn alerted the officials of Omega Lift Company. A complaint has been registered at Infocity Police Station, and the police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
This comes after two incidents of theft of copper wire from the metro rail route in the past few weeks, due to which metro operations were halted for some time. DeshGujarat
