Ahmedabad: Alongside central and state government agencies, a team from the National Security Guard (NSG) has been deployed at the site of the Air India plane crash in the city, where around 265 lives were lost.
Officials confirmed that the NSG team is assisting in ongoing relief efforts but does not have any investigative mandate in the matter.
The tragic incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when a London-bound Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, carrying 242 passengers, crashed into the premises of a medical college in the Meghaninagar area shortly after takeoff. The death toll from the crash has risen to around 265.
NSG commandos were spotted at the crash site, particularly near the hostel building where the aircraft’s tail remains lodged.
The investigation is being led by multiple agencies, including the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Ahmedabad Crime Branch, and local police. It is also learnt that officials from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) visited the site on Friday. DeshGujarat
