Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today planted a tree at a municipal plot in Sarkhej under the ‘Mission for Million Trees’ campaign by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to significantly expand the city’s green cover.
It is noteworthy that an Oxygen Park will be developed at this site by the AMC. Spread across approximately 3,658 sq.m., the park will include 380 large banyan trees arranged in four blocks and 11,420 indigenous saplings planted using the Miyawaki method.
During the event, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah distributed saplings to attendees and participated in the plantation activity along with other dignitaries present.
With a vision to enhance Ahmedabad’s green cover, the AMC has launched the ‘Mission for Million Trees’ campaign, under which around 40 lakh trees will be planted across the city. As part of this campaign, AMC will also run tree chariots that will visit residents’ homes and plant trees free of cost. Citizens can also participate in the campaign through the AMC Seva App. DeshGujarat
