Gujarat CM inaugurates Sansad Kutch Carnival-2025 on Kutchi New Year
June 27, 2025
Bhuj: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the Sansad Kutch Carnival 2025 this evening on the banks of Hamirsar Lake in Bhuj, marking the celebration of Kutch New Year on the occasion of Ashadhi Bij. A total of 64 groups from across the district are participating in the vibrant cultural event.
The carnival began at Khengar Park and concluded near Umaid Nagar, covering a 2.5-kilometre route. Along this stretch, pavilions were set up, and trees lining the lakeside were decorated with colourful lights, adding to the festive atmosphere.
More than 2,500 artists from 64 different groups—including social organizations, youth groups, caste-based associations, women’s collectives, and students from schools and colleges—performed on various Kutch-themed subjects. These included patriotic topics, Operation Sindoor, Kutch’s social fabric, cultural heritage, tourism, industry, cleanliness, and more, all presented through elaborate floats and tableaux. The entire carnival route was adorned with decorative lighting and pavilions, while government buildings and major traffic circles across Bhuj were also illuminated to mark the occasion.
Historically, the Kutch Carnival was held annually in Bhuj from the inception of Rann Utsav until 2013, often graced by then-Chief Minister and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the event was discontinued for several years. Following PM Modi’s recent public meeting in Bhuj, the carnival has been revived, reigniting public enthusiasm. Various organizations, youth and caste-based groups, students, and industrial associations across the district have actively participated in the event, making the revival a grand success.
