July 12, 2025
Devbhumi Dwarka: In an ongoing investigation, Devbhumi Dwarka police have found that 154 decommissioned fishing boats were illegally re-registered as new using forged documents. Two key suspects, including a retired official of the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB), were arrested from Bhavnagar for allegedly fabricating fake invoices to facilitate the scam. This brings the total number of arrests in the case to 56. The investigation revealed that, since 2022, some fishermen had been fraudulently registering scrapped boats as new in order to secure loans and benefit from government fuel subsidies
