August 06, 2025
Gandhinagar: In a significant move benefiting academic and non-academic staff on fixed salaries, the Gujarat state government has approved additional leave benefits for employees of grant-in-aid institutions.
Sharing details of the decision, government spokesperson and Minister Rushikesh Patel announced that employees of 357 grant-in-aid institutions will now be entitled to 20 sick leaves and 15 special leaves annually. This move will benefit a total of 1,282 employees, comprising 1,167 academic staff and 115 non-academic staff.
Minister Patel said that academic and non-academic fixed salary employees working in non-government aided colleges will now receive the same medical leave benefits as fixed-pay government employees. In case of a serious illness or injury to the employee or their immediate family members, 10 full-pay leaves or 20 half-pay leaves can be availed in a year, subject to submission of a valid medical certificate as per existing rules.
Moreover, sick leave accrued during the fixed salary period will be carried forward upon regular appointment.
Additionally, non-vacation employees on fixed pay in grant-in-aid institutions will be eligible for 15 special leaves annually. However, these special leaves will not be carried forward after regularization of employment. DeshGujarat
