Brawl Between Locals and PG Residents in Another Western Ahmedabad Society
September 13, 2025
Ahmedabad: Tensions flared late on Friday night at Premchandnagar Cooperative Housing Society in Vastrapur locality of western Ahmedabad, where residents and paying guest (PG) occupants clashed over parking rules and alleged nuisance activities.
According to society office bearers, members had passed a resolution mandating that outsiders must park their vehicles outside the society gates. However, residents alleged that PG tenants repeatedly violated the rule, leading to a confrontation.
The society, which has around 300 houses, reportedly hosts nearly 60–70 PG facilities. Locals claim many of these PGs are operating illegally without registration or verification. Residents further alleged that liquor bottles were often found within the society premises, accusing some PG occupants of consuming alcohol illegally.
The locals said they face threats from PG residents. Due to many people living in single unit, water shortage occurs, following which tankers are called. They gather in groups and talk loudly and create disturbance.
On the other hand, girls living in one PG facility accused a local resident of deliberately parking his car in front of their gate to provoke a clash. When society members gathered to protest the PG facilities, PG residents and their associates staged a counter-protest, escalating tensions. They claimed the society would take multi-fold maintenance from PG facilities and thereby legitimating the facilities. However after the recent AMC rules pertaining to PG and the Gujarat High Court order, the society members now want PGs to shut.
Police were called in to intervene after the situation turned into a heated brawl that continued late into the night. DeshGujarat
