Amit Shah Distributes AI-Powered Spectacles in Gandhinagar
September 15, 2025
Gandhinagar, September 15: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday distributed AI-powered spectacles to visually impaired persons in Gandhinagar, calling the initiative a step towards harnessing technology for empowerment.
The spectacles are designed to help users read printed documents, measure distance from obstacles, recognize currency through a voice-assisted system, and listen to text in their mother tongue.
Shah highlighted the transformative potential of the technology, noting that it will allow visually impaired persons to read and instantly hear the content in their preferred language. “This will open new frontiers for them. With these spectacles, they can move more confidently, read with ease, and identify currency. I appeal to voluntary organisations to come forward and ensure wider access to this facility,” he added.
The distribution took place during an Rajbhasha, where Shah underlined the importance of science and technology in enabling inclusion and independence for differently abled citizens.
