Land demarcation process for Dahod airport complete

Dahod: The state government’s civil aviation department, along with the Dahod district administration, has demarcated the boundaries for the proposed domestic airport in the district.

Since Monday, officials from the civil aviation and revenue departments have been inspecting the location near Tadhagola and Sharda villages in Zalod taluka of Dahod district. Police personnel were deployed during the visit in view of past instances of resistance from villagers over land acquisition.

According to officials, around 141 hectares of land are being acquired for the project, for which a pre-feasibility study has already been carried out by the Airports Authority of India.

Sharing details of the survey, an official from the civil aviation department said, “A total of 141 hectares of land is being sought for the Dahod domestic airport. Demarcation work has now been completed. The proposal includes 112 hectares of forest land and 28 hectares of government wasteland. No private land is being acquired for the project. Officials from the Forest, DLR, and GUJSAL departments carried out the demarcation work over two days.”

Meanwhile, local farmers staged protests in their fields during the demarcation work. They claim to have been opposing the project for the past ten months. While officials maintain that 141 hectares of land have been earmarked for the airport, farmers argue that setting up such an airport within that area is not feasible. DeshGujarat
