September 23, 2025
Surat: A gang of six to seven people stole over Rs 15.22 lakh from an SBI ATM by tampering with its LAN cable. The incident occurred at the SBI Sumul Dairy branch ATM, located in RJD Business Hub, where the suspects allegedly manipulated the LAN connection to withdraw cash before the amounts were debited from customer accounts.
The theft came to light when the bank manager noticed discrepancies during a routine check. The gang members were identified through CCTV footage, which showed them using a screwdriver to tamper with the LAN connection box behind the machine. The police have registered a case and are working to apprehend the suspects, who “appear to be professionals with expertise in ATM-related crimes,” an officer said. DeshGujarat
