Ahmedabad: The Estate Department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today launched a demolition drive in the Naroda area of the city.

The work, carried out by the Estate Department of AMC’s North Zone, is part of the road-widening initiative and covers the stretch from Kubernagar Railway Crossing to Naroda Patiya. Around 100 shops are expected to be affected by this project.

Due to heavy traffic congestion in the area, the 12-meter-wide road from Kubernagar Railway Crossing to Naroda Patiya is being expanded to 18 meters under the TP scheme. Shops on both sides of the road, which partially fall—around 30 to 50%—within the widening area, are being removed.
