SMC plans to launch WhatsApp payment facility for property tax from Diwali
September 24, 2025
Surat: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) is expected to introduce an online payment facility through WhatsApp, possibly starting from Diwali. Currently, the system is undergoing trials, and after successful testing, it will be launched for public use.
The initiative aims to provide citizens with a faster and more convenient payment option. Initially, property tax payments will be accepted through WhatsApp, followed by other municipal taxes. The facility was also announced in the municipal budget.
At present, SMC has already begun sending property tax details to citizens via mobile messages. With the WhatsApp payment option, residents will have an additional method to pay various municipal taxes, including the ability to settle property tax directly from their mobile devices.
This new facility is expected to make tax payments more accessible and convenient, reducing the need for multiple payment methods. DeshGujarat
