Gandhinagar: In a meeting of the State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, a decision was taken in the wider interest of state government employees by approving an increase in the dearness allowance for those benefiting from the Sixth and Seventh Pay Commissions, aligning it with central government rates, effective from 1st July 2025.
Under this decision, employees receiving Seventh Pay Commission benefits will get a 3% increase in their dearness allowance, while those on the Sixth Pay Commission will receive a 5% increase.
The arrears of dearness allowance for the three-month period from 1st July 2025 to 30th September 2025 will be paid in a single installment.
This increase will benefit a total of 4.69 lakh current employees of the state government, Panchayat services, and other departments, as well as approximately 4.82 lakh retired employees (pensioners).
The state government will make a total payment of Rs. 483.24 crore towards arrears for employees, and an additional Rs. 1,932.92 crore annually will be paid towards salaries, allowances, and pensions.
The Chief Minister has also instructed the Finance Department to issue the necessary orders for the implementation of this employee-friendly decision. DeshGujarat
