October 09, 2025
Sabarkantha: In a shocking incident, an attempt was made to derail a train near Himmatnagar by placing iron rods on the railway tracks. The incident reportedly took place last week when the Asarva–Chittorgarh DEMU Special, running from Ahmedabad’s Asarva station to Udaipur in Rajasthan, was targeted.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 12:00 midnight between pillars 321/11 and 321/12 on the Himmatnagar–Udaipur line. The three unknown individuals placed the iron rod on the tracks and fled the scene just as the train approached. However, due to the vigilance of the locomotive pilot, who spotted the obstruction in time, the train came to a halt, preventing any harm to passengers.
Considering the deliberate endangerment of passenger safety, the Himmatnagar RPF police have registered a case against the three unidentified persons and launched a detailed investigation.
This incident comes shortly after a similar attempt in Surat’s Dindoli area, where unknown individuals tried to derail a goods train by placing iron rods on the tracks. DeshGujarat
