ACB Gujarat nabs female clerk at Ahmedabad RTO in bribe case

Ahmedabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed a female junior clerk in the Subhash Bridge RTO office for allegedly demanding a bribe of ₹800.
The complainant, who runs a motor driving school, had already paid ₹700 as official fees for duplicate RC books for two students. However, the accused, Swatiben Rameshbhai Rathod, 39, Junior Clerk, Class-3, allegedly demanded an additional ₹800 as bribe, citing verification and approval processes, and asked the complainant to transfer the amount via a QR code on WhatsApp.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB. During the trap operation conducted on October 13, 2025, the accused engaged in conversation with the complainant and accepted ₹800 through the digital payment platform. The accused also acknowledged the receipt of the illegal payment into her account. The accused has now been apprehended for demanding and accepting illegal gratification. DeshGujarat
