Gujarat police arrest sacked Maharashtra cop in Surat robbery case
October 21, 2025
Surat: The Gujarat police on Sunday night arrested Ranjit Kasle, a dismissed sub-inspector of Maharashtra police, from Latur in Maharashtra in connection with a robbery case registered against him in Surat.
A robbery case had been registered against him at Pal police station near Surat. Acting on this, a Gujarat police team reached Latur and arrested him at around 10:30 pm on Sunday, said local crime branch inspector Sudhakar Bawkar.
As per the police, a suspect previously arrested in the Surat case had, during interrogation, alleged Kasle’s involvement in assisting the robbers’ gang. A special Gujarat police team had been stationed in Latur for several days before the arrest, suspecting that Kasle might have provided logistical or other support to the accused.
In April 2025, Kasle was arrested by Beed police in Maharashtra under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for allegedly posting an objectionable remark online. DeshGujarat
