Winter chill begins to set in across Gujarat; mercury dips below 20°C in major cities
November 07, 2025
Ahmedabad: Signs of winter have begun to appear across Gujarat, with both day and night temperatures dipping below normal at most places on Thursday. According to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) report issued at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, the fall in temperatures was accompanied by clear skies and dry weather conditions across the state.
Several cities and towns witnessed the minimum temperature dropping below 20°C, including major cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, and Surat.
In Ahmedabad, the maximum temperature settled at 32.4°C — about 2°C below normal — while the minimum was 17.0°C, around 1°C below normal. Similar cool conditions prevailed in Gandhinagar, where the mercury dipped to 16.5°C, and in Vadodara, which recorded 16.6°C, about 2.3°C below the seasonal average.
The Saurashtra and Kutch regions also experienced a noticeable drop in temperatures. Rajkot recorded 18.5°C as the minimum, Bhavnagar 20.2°C, while Naliya, as usual, remained the state’s coldest spot, with the mercury touching 16.2°C.
Meanwhile, in coastal towns such as Veraval, Porbandar, and Dwarka, maximum temperatures hovered around 30–32°C — also below normal for this time of year.
The IMD noted that humidity levels remained moderate to high during the morning hours but fell sharply by evening, typical of dry pre-winter conditions. With a further dip expected over the weekend, the familiar early-winter nip is likely to intensify across Gujarat in the coming days. DeshGujarat
